Resolution - Hutto Federal Detention
WHEREAS, the federal government maintains federal detention centers that
are operated under contract by Corrections Corporations of America; and
WHEREAS, federal policy permits the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement
agency to detain immigrant women and their children in those facilities; and
WHEREAS, the detention of immigrant women and children violates provisions
of the Geneva Convention and all other forms of international law;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that LULAC appeals to the administration of
President Barack Obama, to the United States Senate, to the United States
Congress, and to the United Nations, that facilities like Hutto and
government policies that provide for such for profit Facilities and for the
detention of immigrant women and children be repealed.
