WHEREAS, California LULAC sponsored legislation to prevent school districts from requiring passport, driver’s license, and social security number to prove residency in a school district which otherwise would prevent undocumented immigrant students from enrolling in public schools.
 
WHEREAS, Senator Gloria Romero was the author of SB1735, which passed the Senate and the Assembly, and was then vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger.
  
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED California LULAC sponsor ne legislation and urge the State Attorney General, Edmund Brown, to take action to stop this discriminating practice by school districts in California which is a violation of the 14th Amendment equal protection clause.
