Resolution - Technology in Telecommunications
WHEREAS, technology in telecommunications continues to advance in dramatic fashion, allowing for, among many other things, live broadcast of events through the Internet and real time interaction of participants from practically any place or corner of the Globe. WHEREAS, the use of such technology for events like the upcoming 80th LULAC National Convention in Puerto Rico would definitely allow for this organization to broaden the scope and impact of its Convention. WHEREAS, LULAC has always been at the forefront of improving the quality of life and educational opportunities of Latinos throughout our nation; and in this case the use of these tools, such as the latest telecommunications technology, would only help to further advance the knowledge and involvement of our People, regardless of distance, means or physical disabilities. WHEREAS, on May 18, 2008 the LULAC Puerto Rico State Convention approved a Resolution in order to establish a Special Committee on Technology so as to address this issue —— THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the League of United Latin American Citizens will join the effort already undertaken at the 2008 LULAC Puerto Rico State Convention and designate members to a Joint Special Committee on Technology in order to broaden the scope, impact and participation to its 2009 National Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico. That this Joint Special Committee on Technology be compose of eight (8) members of which at least four (4) should be from the Puerto Rico Chapter. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution would allow LULAC to consider the possibility of integrating colleges and universities in this endeavor, as well as interested companies in the private sector or government.
