Resolution - Proof of Residency Requirement

WHERAS, the National Board has passed a motion to oppose un-constitutional Proof of Residency Requirements (POR’s). WHEREAS, California LULAC has taken the lead in opposing strict unconstitutional POR’s in California’s school districts. WHEREAS, the California legislation has introduced an anti unconstitutional POR legislation. WHEREAS, School Districts are requiring passports, driver’s licenses and other State ID prohibited by the Pylor v Doe Supreme Court Decision. WHEREAS, other school districts throughout the Nation are violating the Law. THEREFORE, be it resolved that National LULAC supports legislation including California SB 1735 as well as other state or federal legislation that protects the Rights of undocumented children to obtain a public education in America.
