College Insurance

WHEREAS, LULAC pursues the protection and promotion of health for LULACers; and

WHEREAS, LULAC Young Adult members need health care advocates from our state national boards; and

WHEREAS, LULAC Young Adult members across the state are resorting to remedial or no medical assistance and often seek medical treatment and medication from across the border ; and

WHEREAS, the LULAC Young Adults of Texas met at the Annual Young Adult Conference on February 17, 2007 in Austin, Texas and passionately voted to support the following; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we move to assist the Young Adults across Texas and submit the following to the National Convention:
• That LULAC advocate the inclusion of a health insurance package for all college and university students (for Latino/students/low income)
• That LULAC advocate for the expansion of eligibility of the Children’s Health Insurance Program to include all college students and others eligible
• That LULAC investigate on-campus health care plans that often charge exorbitant fees but provide minimal services.
