Texas A&M in San Antonio

WHEREAS, LULAC is steadfast in its support of education; and

WHEREAS, our ultimate goal is to see that our Hispanic youth along with the rest of the country reach their fullest potential in life by providing them with the best education possible;

WHEREAS, access to higher learning is one of the key factors that can bring our Hispanic community closer to the level playing field that continues to be elusive for us;

WHEREAS, the late and great Senator Frank Madla’s dream and tireless efforts were geared to bring a major University to the Southside of San Antonio and that dream should never die until it becomes reality;

WHEREAS, competition is healthy, and two major Universities in our city will serve to make up for some of the educational neglect that our community had endured for too long;

WHEREAS, Senator Frank Madla always had his heart in the right place as it pertains to education. Fulfilling his dream of Texas A&M coming to the Southside of San Antonio would be a great honor to bestow upon a great hero;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that LULAC will utilize all of its influences and energy to make sure that the Texas Legislature stop playing politics and make the righteous move to see that Texas A&M becomes a reality.
