Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE); and
WHEREAS, women and their
children who are asylum seekers from countries
other than Mexico are being detained at the
facility without due process; and
WHEREAS, the federal

monthly from imprisoning asylum seekers and
immigrants; and
WHEREAS, the children detained
at T. Don Hutto are separated from their mother
during “lock-down” hours/night-time; and
WHEREAS, the children at the
facility are not receiving the 7 hours of

WHEREAS, the children are only
allowed 1 hour of outdoors activity a day and
are denied the basic freedoms they should be
granted by law; and
WHEREAS, the denial of human
rights and the denial of civil rights to asylum
seekers and immigrants is an outrage that will
not be tolerated in a free country, the United
States of America;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
THAT, LULAC Council 650 goes on record demanding
that the federal government address the
injustices occurring at the T. Don Hutto

immigrants and asylum seekers.
