Resolution
In support of
Senator Dunn's Bills on Restitutions for Mexican
American Deported in the 1930's
WHEREAS, California LULAC recognizes Senator
Dunn as an expert on forced deportations of
Mexican Americans by the U.S. government in
collaboration with state and local governments;
and
WHEREAS, Senator Dunn has introduced SB670 that
would create a commission on the
unconstitutional deportations of Mexican
American citizens during the 1930's within the
state government; and
WHEREAS, the proposed reparation commission
would require the commission to gather facts and
conduct a study of the unconstitutional removal
of Mexican Americans during the 1930's; and
WHEREAS, Mexican Americans were deported because
the government that the Mexican American
population were taking jobs away from the Euro
American population during the Great Depression
of the 1930; and
WHEREAS, 1-2 million Mexican Americans were
forced to immigrate back into Mexico when many
were born as United States Citizens; and
WHEREAS, SB645 would require that the California
State Government state a public apology for the
the forced deportations of Mexican Americans in
the 1930's;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT CALIFORNIA LULAC
AT ITS 58TH ANNUAL CONVENTION SUPPORT SENATOR
DUNN'S BILLS SB670 AND SB 645. WHICH WOULD
ADDRESS THE INJUSTICES THAT WERE SUFFERED BY
MEXICAN AMERICANS DEPORTED IN THE 1930'S AND
URGES NATIONAL LULAC SUPPORT FOR THE SAME.
