In support for Filipino Veterans of WWII
 

WHEREAS, California LULAC has a number of councils in district 14 of Fillipino veterans of WWII all of whom are in there late 70's and 80's and they heroically defended the Philippines while under US rule; and

WHEREAS, the US government promised Filipino Veterans at the end of WWII full veterans benefits which have never been provided; and

WHEREAS, Filipino Veterans have sought for over 60 years congressional approval of full benefits; and

WHEREAS, Congressmen Mike Honda of San Jose, Chair of the Alliance Congressional Caucus, has reintroduced a Filipino Veterans Act that would provide full benefits; and

WHEREAS, passage of this important legislation will require the broadest support from civil rights organizations and churches;

THEREFORE, be it resolved that California LULAC at its 58th Annual Convention urges National LULAC to engage in a campaign for passage of the Filipino Veterans of WWII Act by Congressmen Mike Honda and commends the district 14 Filipino veterans council for it historic contribution and presents in LULAC.
