Resolution

To Oppose "Minutemen" Vigilante Group

Whereas, the League of United American Citizens, the nations oldest and largest membership organization, was found for the purpose of protecting the civil rights and the betterment of the lives of Latinos both US born and immigrant; and

Whereas, LULAC has championed the noble cause of  combating blatant and over discrimination against Latinos and others; and

Whereas, immigration has been a key factor in the building of our great nation; and

Whereas, LULAC honors God, country, and the American way of constitutional guarantees of freedom from bondage, from hatred, from poverty, and oppression; and

Whereas, LULAC honors and abides by democratic principles of the rule of law both domestic and international; and

Whereas, vigilante groups, such as the "Minutemen" have demonstrated the intention to take up arms -- without proper authorization, appropriate training - - in a misguided and unlawful effort to protect individual property against migrants from Mexico and other countries thereby endangering the lives of these migrants, their own lives and other US citizens and residents; and

Whereas, the U.S. government under the Homeland Security Department is entrusted to properly train and equip officers who perform the duties of U.S. government's responsibility and function in  protecting the U.S. borders over land and sea;

Therefore be it resolved, that LULAC -- patriots for civil rights- - opposes the Minutemen" and any other vigilante groups and calls on all U.S. government authorities to disband and remove this  vigilante group and any such others.
