Whereas, Latinos contribute in positive and meaningful ways to the fabric of U.S. society; and

Whereas, mainstream society and particularly Latino Youth benefit from the actions of creative, innovative and bold Latino leaders; and

Whereas, Corky Gonzales was the grandfather of the Chicano movement and founder of the crusade of justice a civil rights organization based in Denver, Colorado, and Miguel Contreras was the labor movement leader and political leader from Southern California, and Lalo Guerrero, was the pioneer Latino musician who opened doors to the music entertainment world for young Latinos; and

Whereas, our nation has suffered the loss off these three tireless visionary leaders who have touched the  lives and souls of people from all ethnic groups and walks of life; and

Whereas, these selfless leaders who gave of themselves for the betterment of all, improved the human condition in all its facets which effect our quality of life;

Therefore be it resolved that LULAC recognizes posthumously the contributions and deeds of these great individuals and Latino role models.
