Resolution
 

To Embrace Peaceful Action to Promote Honor and Uphold World Peace
 

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens is the largest and oldest civil rights organization in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, LULAC supports the efforts of those who advocate peace such as represented in the following quote: "While Leadership in War" is a very real part of the West Point experience, of equal and more long-lasting effect is Leadership in Peace where I hope to make a greater contribution." The words above are by Elizabeth Lazzari, a graduate from Cornelia Connelly School in California  who will attend West Point in the Fall 2005 (Shining Students Profile of 20 of Orange's County Best and Brightest" OC Family, June 2005 pg.64); and

 

WHEREAS, LULAC supports the effort of inspirational leaders whose lives have been significantly dedicated to peace and not to war:  Noble Peace Prizes Laurels: Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Kim Dae Jung, Nelson Mandela, Mikahail Gorbachev, 14th Dalai Lama, Tensin Gyatso, Yasser Arafet, Simon Peres Yitzhak Rabin, Oscar Arias Sanchez, Jimmy carter and other humanitarians: Cesar Chavez, Mahatma Ghandi, Pope John Paul II, Albert Einstein, Jesus Christ and those who follow and many more; and

 

WHEREAS, to offer one's death in meaningless when survival is the goal; and

 

WHEREAS, soldiers die to save the lives of others but the lives of soldiers must also be saved; and

 

WHEREAS, some of us are given the task of being peacemakers in a fashion other than war;

 

THEREFORE, be it resolved that we as LULAC members dedicate our life long long efforts to save the lives of would be soldiers who won't survive war, we will inform our love ones the peaceful action is the best path to saving lives and we will host a Day to Embrace Peaceful Action to Promote, Honor and Uphold World peace on September 5th.
