CONDEMN CURRENT VIOLATIONS OF
EDUCATION CODE STATUES
WHEREAS, the State Legislature,
recognizing that participation of parents and
students is the shared decision making process
at their local schools is an important component
in their success operation, pass a state law,
California Education Code Section 51100,
mandating such participation, and
WHEREAS, this
process is routinely and illegally bypassed in
schools throughout the state, of which a
particularly egregious example in Mount Gleason
Middle School in the Los Angeles Unified School
District, Sunland, California, and
WHEREAS
violation of this law is usually not reversed by
educational authorities nor prosecuted by local
District Attorneys because current law is
effectively circumvented whenever a school
district is involved,
THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that LULAC Council 3019
strongly condemns this practice and calls for
California LULAC to work with California’s State
Legislature to amend current laws to facilitate
investigation and prosecution of these cases as
well and other violations of Education Codes
