Resolution
Requesting the Support of
LULAC for a Commemorative U.S. Postal Stamp in
Honor of Dr. Hercor R. Garcia, Founder of the
American G.I. Forum
WHEREAS, the American G.I. Form
has become a national advocate for U.S. veterans
and members of the U.S. Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, the
American G.I. Forum was founded on the basis of
the long-term vision for the benefit,
improvement, and protection of the rights of
American veterans and all citizens of the United
States; and
WHEREAS, the
visionary and loyal U.S. citizen and patriot,
the honorable Dr. Hector P. Garcia, is now
deceased; and
WHEREAS, within
the membership of all G.I. American Forum
chapters in the United States, at the present
time there is a movement to request that the
Congress of the United States pass a law
authorizing the printing of a commemorative U.S.
Postal Service stamp honoring the visionary and
honorable Dr. Hector P. Garcia, the founder of
the American G.I. Forum.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the 2004 annual LULAC
National Convention in San Antonio, Texas, this
10th day of July 2004 pass a
resolution supporting the efforts of the
American G.I. Forum requesting that the Congress
of the United States pass a law authorizing the
printing of a U.S. Postal Service commemorative
stamp by the United States Postal Service
honoring a distinguished Mexican American,
United States citizen, the honorable Dr. Hector
Carcia, the founder of the American G.I. Forum;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that a copy of this supporting resolution be
sent to the national commander of the American
G.I. Forum.
