Resolution

To Condemn, Stop, and Thoroughly Investigate the Murder of Women in Juarez, Mexico

WHEREAS

  1. Over 400 women and children have been murdered or disappeared on the U.S. Mexican Border. Most of them young Maquilla workers. None of the murders have been resolved by the authorities.

  2. The Mexican Government and its leaders have acknowledged that there are a substantial number of women who have been officially murdered. The Mexican government investigations are not effective to date, without any specific results realized.

  3. The Mexican government has officially recognized that many of the murdered women of Juarez have died through domestic violence situations. The murder raises grave concerns for extreme violations of human rights against women, without justifiable explanation to the families and public,

  4. Over 400 companies operate Maquilladoras along the border and 80% of them are U.S. owned. Latinos everywhere clamor for answers. Because of the close relationship that US and Mexico share, especially related to trade.

 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED

  1. Shall support the condemnation of the murders on the border of Mexico and the U.S.

  2. Shall call on every and all local, state and national community leaders, officials and politicians to take action to require the Mexican and U.S. Government to act to end the murders, conduct full and thorough investigations and bring all perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice by an and all means necessary.

Adopted this 10th day of July 2004.
