Requesting an Increase in the
Availability of Social Security Interviews with
an Understanding of the Spanish Language
WHEREAS, it has come to the
attention of members of LULAC Council No. 4817
that no English speaking persons have to wait
for unreasonable periods of time to be
interviewed at the San Antonio Social Security
Office because of the limited availability
interviews who have an understanding of the
Spanish language; and,
WHEREAS, daily,
a substantial number of persons seeking
assistance at the San Antonio Social Security
Office, do not speak and/or have a limited
ability to understand the English language;
and,
WHEREAS, LULAC
Council No. 4817, has passed resolution
requesting that the number of Social Security
interviewer with the ability to speak to
understand Spanish be increased at the San
Antonio Social Security Office; now.
THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED that the 2004 Annual LULAC
State Convention go on record as supporting
LULAC Council No. 4817 request of interviewers
with the ability to speak and to understand the
Spanish language be increased at the San Antonio
Office, be introduced at the 2004 Annual LULAC
National Convention to be convened in July 2004
in San Antonio, Texas.
