Texas LULAC District VIII Resolution
 

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens supports the purpose of fostering and enlarging the opportunities for training, education, civil rights, job opportunities, housing, economic development and welfare of all Hispanics in the United States; 

WHEREAS, several community Hispanic leaders in Nacogdoches, Texas have called on LULAC for assistance in bringing to justice the deat of 55 year-old Rodolfo del Gado Sanchez; 

WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez died after he was struck by patrol Officer Brian Eggebrecht’s police car  while crossing the street. According to reports, Sanchez had crossed almost three lanes of traffic when he was killed by a Nacogdoches officer, 

WHEREAS, after it was reported that no charges are expected against Eggebrecht, according to the Department of Public Safety, the Hispanic community has organized several protects, some as large as 400 persons seeking that justice be served in this case, 

WHEREAS, while officials with the city of Nacogdoches, the Nacogdoches Police Department and the Department of Public Saftey met with key leaders within the surrounding area and Hispanic leaders to discuss the death of 55-year old Rodolfo del Gado Sanchez. Few genuine answers have been provide to ease the immigrant community concerns about how the investigation was being conducted, 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that at the LULAC District VIII Convention held in Houston, Texas on the 17th day of April of 2004, LULAC District VIII of Texas by a majority vote of those present, RESOLVED THAT: a request for a full investigation be conducted by state and federal authority in this case. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the LULAC District VIII Legal Advisor draft the proper documents for this request.
