Supporting Chief Oritz to Make San Antonio the Safest Crime Free City in the United States
 

WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is the oldest and largest Hispanic Civil Rights organization; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC is a tax exempt organization under the laws of the United States of America; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC was founded to embody the will of a people to overcome inequality, discrimination, and injustice; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC was founded and chartered in 1929—this being the 75th Anniversary to protect the Civil Rights of all Hispanics in education, housing banking law-enforcement and in the election and judicial process; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC District XV firmly must preserve the respect, reputation, honesty and integrity of our people as well as reaffirm our determination to provide for the restoration and recognition of the Hispanic’s equal standing in American society; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC District XV firmly and respectively supports and honors our distinguished public leaders such as our local San Antonio Police Chief, Albert Ortiz; and 

WHEREAS, Chief Albert Ortiz, is a local product that has shown our future youth the road to success through hard work, education, honesty, and dignity on the job, a credit to his strong desire to achieve at the highest level; and 

WHEREAS, Chief Ortiz, has given the Hispanics a symbolic doctrine to follow in our pursuit to a better world, his experience, judgment, professional conduct, and insight to solve community problems has been commendable; and  

WHEREAS, Chief Ortiz, epitomizes what LULAC must preserve; the ideals, honesty, integrity, and determination into taking part in the shaping of a better world for all of our citizens; and 

WHEREAS, Chief Oritz, is the first and only Hispanic to attain the rank of Police Chief in the eighth largest city in the United States (San Antonio); and 

WHEREAS, Chief Oritz is wise and discreet, his actions in reducing crime at less cost than his predecessors shows his actions speak louder than words. A man of firm beliefs and strong convictions he emanates leadership of the highest esteem; and 

WHEREAS, Chief Oritz, is a credit to his profession and a positive role model for our citizens and serves as a vanguard to all of our future Hispanic police officers; and               

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the League of United Latin American Citizens, hereby this resolution supports Chief Oritz in all his endeavors to make San Antonio the safest crime free city in the United States. We urge and request that the Mayor and City Council of San Antonio honor our request and provide Chief Oritz with all the support available and assurance that as long as his job performance continues in its present form, job security will not be jeapordized. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Chief Oritz has demonstrated fairness, equality, compassion, and righteousness when enforcing the law acting in accord with justice and always morally right and justifiable.  

Those are the ideals that represent our organization (LULAC) and we salute Chief Oritz for upholding those ideals in furthering the interest of justice. Chief Oritz is a credit to his position; arguable the best Police Chief San Antonio has ever had the privilege to have. As Hispanics we are proud and honored above and beyond the normal standard of excellence.
