Petition to Support Governor Janet Napolitano’s State Budget Plan for 2003 Protecting Human and Safety Net Services
 

WHEREAS, The League of United Latin American Citizens is the nation’s oldest and largest Latino organization, founded in Corpus Christi Texas on February 24, 1929; and 

WHEREAS, LULAC throughout its history has committed itself to the principal that Latino have equal access to opportunities in employment, education, housing and healthcare; and 

WHEREAS, the Arizona State Legislature’s 2003 Budget drastically cuts vital services to families, children, minorities, elderly, poor, rural, inner city, and migrant farmworker families; and  

WHEREAS, services included in these legislative cuts for 2003 includes the developmentally disabled, behavioral health, housing, education, adult education, job training, and other vital social services; and 

WHEREAS,  Governor Janet Napolitano’s Budget does not cut the above referenced services and thereby protects the safety net of services for Arizona families, minorities, rural, farmworkers and other needy individuals. 

THEREFORE, we request that Arizona LULAC strongly support Governor Janet Napolitano’s Budget for 2003 and Governors in other states that are taking the stand to protect vital services to those in need.
