WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens supports the purpose of fostering and enlarging the opportunities for training, education, civil rights, job opportunities, housing, economic development and welfare of all Hispanic citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS, constant immigrant crossing on the Arizona-Mexico have persisted for decades and,
WHEREAS, these immigrant are assisted by groups and bands of people called "Coyotes-Polleros," etc. and,
WHEREAS, these Coyotes - Polleros have created a lucrative living off these immigrant crossings by charging a hefty fee for assistance, robbing and raping their victims and,
WHEREAS, these Coyotes-Polleros have existed for what seems forever and nothing seems to stop this illegal operation and,
WHEREAS, the only people getting prosecuted or damaged are the crossing migrants,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is strongly voicing its objection and disagreement with this continued occurrence which seems out of control with no Mexican Government involvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that LULAC is demanding that the Mexican Attorney General's Office immediately start investigating, prosecuting and bring the full bearing of Justice on these so-called Coyotes-Polleros and have them stop mistreating and abusing the immigrants. LULAC is demanding that these pipelines of transporting immigrants be unveiled and terminated and that the Mexican government be responsible for creating PSAs and other means to notify its citizenry of the perils of attempting to cross the border.
