WHEREAS, LULAC supports the purpose of fostering and enlarging the opportunities for training, education, civil rights, job opportunities, housing, economic development and welfare of all Hispanic citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Cesar Estrada Chavez performed and lived for our Hispanic Culture and its people via numerous noteworthy actions and,
WHEREAS, some States and Counties have commenced to give this great man his "rightful due" by declaring a day of celebration or Holiday in his name and,
WHEREAS, the United States has a Hispanic Community which is growing by leaps and bounds on a daily basis and,
WHEREAS, there are a limited number of known Hispanic role models in the United States for our Youth to copy and follow,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is strongly supporting and advocating that Cesar Estrada Chavez be declared a National Holiday. Arizona LULAC is calling on all of the membership and any and all allies of this proposal to show their support and responsibility at all levels of government especially at the federal level when the opportunity reveals itself.
