Removing the Citizen Requirement for Airport Screeners

WHEREAS, Congressman Zoe Logren (D-CA) has introduced legislation that removes the citizenship requirement and establishes the same requirement as that of the National Guard that does not require citizenship to serve in the National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Filipino and Mexican American legal immigrants have served the nation as airport security screeners for many years to protect the nation's airports;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that LULAC urge the President and Congress to remove the requirement that airport screeners be citizens of the United States made after the 9/11 tragedy by Congress with passage of the Airport Security Act of 2001,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that LULAC supports the removal of the citizenship requirement for airport screens.
