WHEREAS, Katherine Lucero is a Superior Court Commissioner of the Juvenile Dependency Court and former Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara County, and
WHEREAS, Katherine Lucero, a graduate of the University of California Davis and received a law degree from Syracuse University, plus former President of La Raza Lawyers of Santa Clara County, current member of the Child Abuse Commission, and founding board member of Leadership Institute for Diversity, and
WHEREAS, Katherine Lucero is astute, ethical, fair and highly respected with a strong personal background, credentials, professional career and outstanding leadership qualities, including excellent people skills that bridges the gap at all levels of the community, and
WHEREAS, Commission Katherine Lucero is being interviewed by our Governor Gray Davis for an appointment to Superior Court Judge in Santa Clara County, and
WHEREAS, there are five Superior Court Judge vacancies in Santa Clara County and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the State LULAC Convention and statewide membership endorse Commissioner Katherine Lucero appointment as the first Latina Superior Court Judge, her appointment would be historical and memorable, the first Latina and send a letter of endorsement to Governor Gray Davis.
