
WHEREAS, California law provides that non-residents must pay tuition much higher than California residents, and
WHEREAS, out-of-state non-California residents are distinct from undocumented California residents in that undocumented California residents live, work, and pay taxes to the state of California, and
WHEREAS, undocumented California residents support the public education system by virtue of their California residency, and
WHEREAS, there is a clear difference between undocumented California residents and out-of-state residents in that the former pay California taxes and the latter do not, and
WHEREAS, as California residents the denial of admissions to California colleges and universities to undocumented California residents is on its unfair, unjust, and contrary to the American principal of equality and fairness to human beings,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that LULAC urges the California Executive Branch of government, California's unjust college tuition laws to allow undocumented California residents to be admitted to colleges and universities as California residents as well as in other states such as Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Illinois, and New York where large Hispanic populations reside who are denied the opportunity to higher education.
