				LULAC Calls Upon the Senate to Confirm Alberto 
				Gonzales as U.S. Attorney General 
				 
				
				LULAC asks members to set aside partisanship and focus on 
				Gonzales’ qualifications

								Washington, DC
								– The League of United Latin American 
								Citizens (LULAC) calls for Senate members to 
								confirm White House Counsel Al Gonzales during 
								today’s vote.    
								
								“The LULAC board 
								reaffirms its enthusiastic support of the 
								nomination of Alberto Gonzales to serve as 
								Attorney General and is calling upon the Senate 
								to confirm him as the nation’s first Latino to 
								head the U.S. Department of Justice,” said LULAC 
								National President Hector Flores.  “Now is the 
								time to set aside politics and focus on 
								Gonzales’ tremendous qualifications for this 
								position,” added Flores.    
								
								
								The League of United Latin American Citizens 
								(LULAC) is the oldest and largest Latino civil 
								rights organization in the United States.  LULAC 
								advances the economic condition, educational 
								attainment, political influence, health, and 
								civil rights of Hispanic Americans through 
								community-based programs run by more than 700 
								LULAC councils nationwide.
